How does it work?

Each treatment tip contains 36 very fine insulated needles that are automatically inserted in the treatment area to a pre determined depth for a fraction of a second. The tip of each needle once inserted, emits a pulse of radiofrequency which instantly heats the dermis to stimulate a natural healing process of collagen production and skin tightening. Over time, the levels of collagen in the skin deplete, resulting in lines and wrinkles and skin laxity. By stimulating the production of collagen Astra RF can remodel the skin and restore its more youthful appearance and texture.

Is it painful?

Topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin 20-30 minutes prior to treatment. This will numb the treatment area and make the procedure more comfortable. Additional cool packs may be applied after treatment if necessary.

Am I suitable?

Astra RF can treat all skin types effectively and safely. It can transform prematurely aged skin, soften acne scars and stretchmarks. During your consultation we will conduct a thorough medical history to check for any contraindications to treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

This will vary between individuals but generally we recommend 3-5 session approximately 4-6 weeks apart. Often you will see results within a few days with the skin feeling smoother and looking fresher.

Improvement will continue over time and with each treatment, with optimal results seen 2-3 months after your final treatment. It can take a few months for collagen to rebuild and show visible results.

How long do results last?

As we are rebuilding natural collagen results are long lasting and you can expect to last at least 18 months. Additional treatments can be done annually to maintain results and counter the natural ageing process.

Are there any side effects?

Recovery is typically one day during which the treated area will show a noticeable level of redness like a sunburn. On day two the skin recovers and may feel a little tight for another day or two. You can return to normal activity after the first day. You will be provided with complete after care instructions including the use of SPF 30+.
