For a significant eye-opening

We provide eyelid surgery treatments in our London, Nottingham & Leicester clinics. As we get older, the upper eyelids tend to look heavier and more hooded due to the brow becoming lower and the excess skin that forms as part of the ageing process. An upper eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is a simple surgical procedure for men and women in their mid-thirties upwards. It helps rejuvenate the eye area by removing any excess or hooding skin and, in turn, opens the eyes giving a more attractive, fresher look that is both younger and less tired in appearance.

For those not ready for eyelid surgery, non-surgical treatments such as  BOTOX®  or  dermal fillers  can help refresh the eye area but do not tackle excess skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is eyelid (blepharoplasty) surgery?
As we get older, the upper eyelids tend to look heavier and more hooded due to the brow becoming lower and the excess skin that forms as part of the ageing process. An upper eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is a simple surgical procedure for men and women in their mid-thirties upwards. It helps rejuvenate the eye area by removing any excess or hooding skin and, in turn, opens the eyes giving a more attractive, fresher look that is both younger and less tired in appearance.
How long will it take to recover?
Recovery from blepharoplasty is relatively easy. The surgery can be performed using local rather than general anaesthesia, which means you can get back to normal activities relatively soon after your procedure. The total recovery time of blepharoplasty is up to 10 days.
What are the side effects?
You will have some bruising and swelling for 5-10 days afterwards, but you will be ok to carry on normal daily activities after 3-4 days.
Is blepharoplasty safe?

At Peonia Medical, we have handpicked the very best oculoplastic and plastic surgeons who are experts in eyelid cosmetic surgery. Performed by experienced surgeons, blepharoplasty is strictly under the regulation of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which means only the CQC registered premises can provide this service safely. At Peonia Medical, we make sure you are only treated at a CQC registered premises.

What areas can be treated with blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty can treat droopy eyelids, wrinkles and skin furrows under the eyes, bags under the eye, and crow’s feet.
What happens during and after the surgery?
The procedure involves your surgeon making a cut in the natural skin crease of your upper eyelid. They will remove any excess skin and fat and close the wound using very fine stitches. The incision scar will be hidden in the skin crease so you will never see it. The stitches are removed 5-7 days later. You will have some bruising and swelling for 5-10 days afterwards but you will be ok to carry on normal daily activities after 3-4 days.
